Man tried to entice schoolboy into car

A MAN in Clydebank tried to entice a 10-year-old boy into his car as he walked home from school, police said.

The boy was making his way home from St Mary’s Primary School in Duntocher when he saw a man standing beside a black car between 4.10pm and 4.30pm on Monday.

As he approached Beeches Road near its junction with Chapel Road, the man tried to persuade the schoolboy to get into the car, but the youngster ran off towards home.

Detective Constable Trevor Fleming, of Strathclyde Police, said: “This type of incident causes us great concern and as such, local schools have been notified about the incident and high-visibility patrols will be patrolling the area around the school at the end of the school day.

“I’d like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this particular incident or anyone who may have seen this man or his vehicle hanging around the area.”

Police said the man had a tanned complexion and was wearing a black Adidas hooded-top with green stripes on the arms and hood, black jogging bottoms and black gloves.

His car is described as a black shiny vehicle similar to a BMW, with possible damage to the near-side wing mirror.
