Man suffers horror injury

A MAN was rushed to hospital yesterday after impaling his eye socket on a radiator pipe.

The 61-year-old is understood to have fallen onto the pipe at his home in Edinburgh Road, Bathgate, at around 1:10pm. Paramedics rushed to the scene and then called firefighters to free him.

The man, who was conscious, was taken to the ERI and then transferred to The Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion.

A fire service spokeswoman said: "We used specialist cutting gear and removed part of the radiator, which allowed paramedics to give medical aid."
