Man struck by van dies

A MAN has been killed after being hit by a van in Morayshire in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The man, who has not been named, was struck by the vehicle in Elgin's Station Road at around 4.30am. He was taken to the town's Dr Gray's Hospital, but died shortly afterwards.

It is believed the victim was local, and in his mid-30s.

The road was closed while accident investigators examined the scene, but it reopened shortly after midday yesterday.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said officers are continuing their enquiries and appealed for witnesses.
