Man stabbed in abdomen and robbed on Leith street

A MAN was stabbed in the abdomen and robbed at knifepoint as he walked in Leith.

The 36-year-old victim had been walking northwards in Great Junction Street together with the suspect, and another man. The knifeman is believed to be an associate of the other man, but the attacker was not known to his victim.

All three men had walked into King Street when the suspect turned on the victim, stabbing him in the abdomen and robbing him. The suspect was last seen making off towards Cables Wynd.

He is described as white, 19 to 20-years-old, slim build, short dark hair, and wearing a white T-shirt, black jacket, and black jogging bottoms. He also had a distinctive tattoo, featuring calligraphy style writing, on the right side of his neck.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses to the incident, and in particular we want to speak to the male who was not directly involved in the attack.

"Anyone else who witnessed the attack, or noticed the three men there, should contact police immediately."
