A MAN who throttled his wife in front of their two children after he refused to seek treatment for a mental health condition was spared a jail sentence yesterday. Alan Ross, 48, grabbed his wife Sonia by the throat as their children ate their dinner in the kitchen of their home in Inverness.

Depute fiscal Ian Smith said: "When the police arrived officers had to deploy CS spray in order to control the situation."
