Man scarred after attack

A MAN was scarred for life in a vicious hammer attack, a court heard.

David Porter struck Gerald Callaghan, 34, twice on the head with the weapon after a drunken argument in Bathgate.

Mr Callaghan reacted by punching Porter on the face, Livingston Sheriff Court was told yesterday.

Porter, of Whitburn, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment after appearing for sentence after earlier pleading guilty to assaulting Mr Callaghan to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
