Man rescued from flat fire

A MAN was rescued by firefighters today following a blaze at a flat in Livingston.

The 29-year-old was taken to hospital suffering the effects of smoke inhalation after being lowered out of a first-floor window in Logan Way at around 3:35am.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said the man had managed to take refuge from the blaze inside his flat after being given "survival advice" over the phone until firefighters arrived.

She said: "We attended a fire in a first-floor flat. A 29-year-old male was rescued from a window using a ladder."
