Man rescued after trying to save dog

A MAN was rescued by the Coastguard after he was trapped while trying to rescue his dog from the bottom of a gorge.

The dog had fallen to the bottom of a gorge at Failford, near Mauchline in Ayrshire, yesterday evening. Clyde Coastguard called for a Royal Navy helicopter from Prestwick, but later rescued the pair using ropes.
