Man on Pope hoax charge

A MAN has been charged with allegedly phoning in a bomb hoax to Edinburgh Airport on the day of the Pope's arrival in Scotland last Thursday.

Kenneth Ross, 52, from Blackridge, West Lothian, appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court last Friday charged under Section 51 of the Criminal Law Act 1977, which relates to bomb hoaxes.

It is understood there was no actual threat to the airport or the Pope and that the intention of the hoax was only to disrupt the visit, not to actually threaten harm against the Pontiff.

Ross is set to appear again on November 3.
