Man killed in Clydebank flat blaze

A MAN died in a fire in a block of flats in Clydebank today.

Firefighters found a "well-developed" blaze when they arrived at the 14-storey building this morning.

Emergency services were contacted at just before 7am and nine firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze at Overtoun Court in Swindon Street.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Fire & Rescue said: "Strathclyde firefighters this morning discovered a male fatality while tackling a fire which broke out at a multi-storey block of flats in Clydebank.

"While the blaze was being dealt with, firefighters carried out a progressive search of all floors in the block to check on the safety of residents. The fire was brought under control at 9.12am."
