Craig Parker, 43, was convicted of sexually assaulting a female, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at the High Court in Livingston last month.

The pervert attacked his victim at an address in Bathgate, West Lothian, on April 27 2014 and sentence was deferred for the court to obtain reports about Parker’s character.

On Wednesday, at the High Court of Edinburgh, defence advocate Ronnie Renucci told the court that his client still believed he was innocent.

Mr Renucci also told the court that Parker was a “vulnerable” man.

He added: “He suffers from mental health problems.”

Temporary judge John Beckett QC told Parker, also of Bathgate, that custody was the only option available to him.

He added:”You will go to prison for five years.”
