Man jailed for stabbing star

A 43-YEAR-OLD man who stabbed a television presenter during a scuffle in a shop was today given a five-year jail term, prosecutors said.

Unemployed Mark Smith of Toftwood, Norfolk, was imprisoned after being found guilty of wounding Matthew Pritchard, star of MTV show Dirty Sanchez, following a trial at Norwich Crown Court. Jurors were told that he attacked Mr Pritchard in a Co-op store in Toftwood in September last year.

Mr Pritchard said he was stabbed in the neck after attempting to calm Smith, who had become abusive while trying to cash a Giro cheque.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Mr Pritchard, who is from Cardiff and was 36 at the time of the attack, needed 20 stitches and was left scarred.
