Man in court over Edinburgh Meadows rape

A MAN has made his first public court appearance charged with raping a woman in the Meadows area of Edinburgh

Steven Davidson is accused of attacking a 19 year-old last November 15.

It is said the 23 year-old approached her from behind, placed his arm around her neck causing her to lose consciousness.

The rape allegation also includes claims Davidson restricted the woman’s breathing by seizing her by neck and that he pulled down her clothes.

Davidson faces a separate charge of being concerned in the supply of cannabis in Edinburgh the previous day.

He today denied the accusations during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge Lord Burns set another hearing due to take place next month.
