Man hurt in kitchen blaze

A MAN was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after fire broke out in a Chinese takeaway below his flat yesterday afternoon.

The 29-year-old was taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston after the fire began in the kitchen of the Golden Ear in Market Street, Mid Calder, West Lothian.

Firefighters were called to the blaze, which started in the restaurant kitchen at around 2.10pm and spread to the first floor flat.

A spokesman for the fire service said the fire was not thought to be suspicious.
