Man hurt in car collision

A MAN is today in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car.

The 39-year-old was injured as he was crossing Lothian Road just before midnight on Monday.

Lothian and Borders Police said he was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he is said to be in a serious condition.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to help them establish the circumstances of the accident.
