Man hit by lorry dies

A MAN has died after being hit by a heavy goods vehicle on a busy main road.

The 23-year-old was hit on the A90 Forfar Road in Dundee around 1.10pm yesterday. A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said the man suffered "significant head injuries" after being struck near a service station.

Paramedics rushed the man to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but he died of his injuries a short time later.

The A90 was closed until 4.30pm while accident investigators examined the scene.

A spokesman for Tayside Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
