Man held over ‘suspicious’ death in Newton Stewart

A MAN has been detained in connection with the death of another man at a house, police said today.

Officers are treating the death of David Brown, from Newton Stewart, as suspicious.

Mr Brown, 40, died at a property in the Dumfries and Galloway town this morning.

An incident room has been set up at the local police station.

Dumfries and Galloway Police said they wanted to remind members of the public that such incidents were rare in the force area.

A spokesman added: “A man has also already been detained in relation to this incident.”

Police said they are keen to speak to anyone who has any information about Mr Brown’s death, or anyone who was in McGregor Drive in the Minnigaff area at around midnight.
