Man held over kirk break-in

A MAN has been arrested and charged for breaking into a Lothian church.

Gorebridge Parish Church, in the town's Hunterfield Road, was raided on Saturday at around 3:30pm.

The 26-year-old, from Newtongrange, was set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old woman from the Gorebridge area has been arrested in connection with an assault and breach of the peace in Burnside Road, Gorebridge, on 25 February.

The woman is to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 9 April.
