Man freed as murder probe continues

A SECOND person arrested in connection with the murder of a schoolboy earlier this month has been freed pending further investigation.

Jon Wilson, 13, from Kilmarnock, died in hospital following an attack in Queen’s Drive in the East Ayrshire town early on Sunday, 4 September.

A 21-year-old man was arrested and detained by police at the weekend in connection with the teenager’s death.

He was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court yesterday, but a spokeswoman for the Crown Office said he had been “liberated pending further investigation”.

On Monday, 5 September, Jordan Cameron McCreadie, 16, from Kilmarnock, was charged with murder and appeared at the town’s sheriff court.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
