Man found shot dead in garden 'was victim of targeted attack'

A 24-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead in a back garden yesterday in what is believed to be a targeted attack.

The man, described as "polite and lovely" by neighbours, was shot in the Top Valley area of Nottingham shortly before 1am.

Police discovered his body at the back of the terraced house in Heatherington Gardens with a single gunshot wound.

Detectives said the shooting was not a "random attack" and it is believed that the victim had a "connection" with the gunman.

A 50-year-old woman, who lives near where the shooting happened and knew the victim, said he was a keen Nottingham Forest fan.

She said: "He was a lovely boy. He was really clean and decent and went out of his way to say hello.

"It's quietened down a lot here. There are not a lot of youths hanging around. It's horrible that something like this has happened.

"I cannot get my head round it."
