Man found dead in flats is named

A MAN who died after being found unconscious in the lift at a block of flats has been named by police.

John Carter was discovered in the building at Salamander Court, in the Leith area of Edinburgh, at about 3:30am on Sunday.

The 44-year-old, from Cables Wynd House in Leith, died a short time later at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Lothian and Borders Police are treating his death as suspicious. Officers said a post-mortem examination has taken place, but the cause of death has not yet been established.

Detective inspector Sara Buchanan, the officer in charge of the investigation, said: "The results of the post-mortem were inconclusive, and our inquiries into Mr Carter's death are ongoing. We are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious."
