Man fired air rifle in bar

A MAN fired an air rifle in a pub after being told he wasn't allowed to bring the weapon into the bar, Edinburgh Sheriff Court has heard.

Gary Holgate, 19, was trying to sell the gun at Wilmo's pub in Gorebridge when the landlord told him he wouldn't be allowed to bring it into the bar.

Holgate, who was drunk at the time of the incident on Valentine's Day this year, returned with the gun and fired it towards pub owner John Peattie. Holgate pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace for firing the weapon and another charge of assault. Sentence was deferred for reports.
