Man 'filmed with Samantha'

A MAN accused of dumping the partly-clothed body of a woman in a wheelie bin yesterday admitted that security cameras had filmed a "brief encounter" between them.

Robert Chalmers, 59, has denied he was to blame for the death of Samantha Wright, or that he hid her remains for 16 months.

Chalmers began giving evidence yesterday as his trial at the High Court in Edinburgh reached the end of its fourth week.

A jury has seen seconds of CCTV footage recorded on the evening of June 12, 2008 - the last day Samantha is known to have been alive.

The t-shirt she was wearing in the CCTV film was found beside her in October 2009 after police and a sniffer dog searched Chalmers' home in Magdalene Drive.
