Man facing jail over
sex assault

A MAN who stalked and then attempted to rape a woman returning home from a night out is facing a prison sentence.

Darius Serafinski, 26, crept up behind the female student – who cannot be named for legal reasons – as she was going home in the early hours of
January 28.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard how Serafinski then walked beside her before he forced his way into the 20-year-old’s property in Tollcross. He ignored her screams for help as he subjected her to a sexual assault.

Weeks later, on March 3, Serafinski followed another woman, Tsaii Fang, to another house in the city. He asked her if he could come into her flat.

When she refused, Serafinski forced himself into the flat and went into her bathroom. He was arrested by police shortly afterwards.

The Polish immigrant, a prisoner of HMP Edinburgh, was yesterday found guilty of attempted rape and breach of the peace charges after a five-day trial.

Judge John Morris deferred sentence on Serafinski – who has one previous conviction for dishonesty – in order for the court to obtain reports.
