Man faces trial for indecent exposure at Stirling University

Neil Cox, 27, faces a charge of indecent exposure following the alleged incident in the University of Stirling library in January.

He is alleged to have “repeatedly sat naked on a chair” and walked about in the buff in the library, which is on the university campus near Bridge of Allan.

It is alleged that in doing so, he exposed his private parts to a female borrower “with the intention that she should see them”.

He is accused of carrying out the act “in a sexual manner”.

Cox, of Bristol, was not personally present at Stirling Sheriff Court todaywhen his solicitor, Stephen Maguire, asked for the case to be continued without plea.

But Sheriff Wyllie Robertson ordered a plea of not guilty to be entered on Cox’s behalf, and set trial for July.

Cox, a salesman, was also ordered to attend a pre-trial hearing in June.

The sheriff said that he hoped that by ordering the plea to be entered, “some progress can be made”.

For legal reasons, the woman who allegedly saw Cox’s privates cannot be named.
