Man drowns in river after bicycle fall

A MORAY town was in mourning yesterday following the tragic death of a local man, feared to have drowned after falling from his bicycle into a river.

The body of Michael Fiske, left disabled by a car accident in his teens, was recovered from the River Lossie on Tuesday. It is believed Mr Fiske had been cycling at the river mouth when he clipped the pier before falling into the river.

Local councillor David Stewart said the entire community was in shock. He said “The thoughts of the Lossiemouth community are with his family. It’s devastating news. Every family in Lossie-mouth knew Michael. He was always out on his bike with his Aberdeen top on, or walking round the town.

“He would speak to everybody. Michael was popular and everybody had time for him. There is a shock through the whole community.”
