Man dies in Dundee flat fire

A man died in a flat fire in Dundee today - the second fatal blaze in Scotland within 24 hours.

Firefighters were called to the top floor flat in the Hilltown area of the city at around 12:30am.

Police said the building was “well alight” when officers arrived and that the 41-year-old was found unconscious.

The man was taken from the building and treated by paramedics, but pronounced dead at the scene.

Yesterday, emergency services were called to a farmhouse near Glenalmond in Perthshire at around 5:45pm. A man, who police said was middle-aged, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Investigations will take place to establish the causes of both fires.
