Man denies holding child in kitchen freezer

A MAN accused of injuring a little girl after holding her against her will in a kitchen freezer yesterday told a court: “I would never do that to a kid.”

Stuart Kitt, 33, told Edinburgh Sheriff Court that he didn’t force the four-year-old girl into a household appliance in October 2007. Speaking on the third day of his trial, Kitt, a prisoner at Saughton, told the court that he was not the man who caused her to suffer painful bruising and burns injuries.

Kitt denies a charge of assault to severe injury and two charges of failing to attend court while on bail. He told defence solicitor Duncan Hughes that he was acting as the girl’s babysitter on the night of the alleged attack and that he planned to watch Scotland play England in the 2007 Rugby World Cup on television.

The trial before Sheriff Kenneth Maciver.
