Man charged with New Year murder

DETECTIVES last night charged a man with the murder of a pub landlord's son on New Year's Eve.

Darren Deslandes, 34, was hit in the head at the Newton Arms in Thornton Heath, south London. Saturday Lobsang Hassan, 30, a Guyana national, was to appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court today charged with two counts of attempted murder and related firearms offences.
