Man charged with assaulting Hibs midfielder Gary Deegan

A MAN has appeared in court charged with an assault on Hibernian midfielder Gary Deegan.

John Hall, 27, made a brief appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in private, before Sheriff Nigel Morrison QC. No plea or declaration was entered on his behalf, and the case was continued for further inquiry.

Mr Hall, from Edinburgh, was bailed.

The alleged assault took place outside the Le Monde nightclub in George Street, after some of the Hibs team were celebrating their 3-0 win over Dundee at Easter Road, taking them to the top of the league.

Deegan, who sustained a broken jaw in the attack, signed for Hibs in the summer.
