Man charged with assault

A POLISH immigrant has been charged with serious assault following an alleged weekend incident at St John's Hospital.

Rafal Swiderski, 20, of Broxburn, appeared on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court.

He was charged with assault to severe injury, carrying an offensive weapon, assaulting or obstructing a nurse, attempted robbery and theft by shoplifting. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
