Man charged over crash death

A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a teenage mechanic in a crash in the centre of a Scottish town.

James Currie Watson is alleged to have driven dangerously before the crash that killed 19-year-old Brendon Main in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, last year.

Watson, 37, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in private, where he made no plea in relation to the charge.

Brendon, of Aberdeen, was severely injured following an early morning crash on Newburgh’s Main Street on 24 July.

The former Cults Academy pupil was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died from his injuries.
