Man charged in connection with Stockholm suicide bombing

A 30-year-old man arrested in connection with the Stockholm suicide bombing has been charged with terrorism offences, Strathclyde Police said today.

The man was arrested at a block of flats in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow on Tuesday morning last week.

Suicide bomber, Taimour Abdulwahab al-Abdaly, 28, who studied at the University of Luton, blew himself up and injured two people in an attack in Stockholm's shopping district in December last year.

Iraqi-born student Abdulwahab, who lived in Luton, apparently killed himself as he tried to set off a car bomb in a busy street.

A statement released by Strathclyde Police today said: "Strathclyde Police can confirm that a 30-year-old man has been charged with offences under the Terrorism Act (2000). This follows an operation in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow on Tuesday March 8."
