Man charged with Halloween murder in Aberdeenshire village

A MAN appeared in court today charged with the murder of a father-of-two who died on Halloween.

James Bruce, 40, from the Peterhead area, died in hospital after he was stabbed following an incident in Boddam, Aberdeenshire, on Sunday.

Today, Ismail Burnett, 37, from Peterhead, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff court charged with murder, the Crown Office said.

No plea or declaration was made and he was remanded in custody.

Mr Bruce's family spoke about their loss in a statement released by Grampian Police yesterday which read: "We are devastated at the loss of our son, father and husband, James.

"James was a bright light in our lives. We are a close family who will miss him so, so much.

"We now wish our privacy respected as we come to terms with our most tragic loss."
