Man charged after ‘hit and run’ incident

A 36-year-old man has been charged in connection with 
an alleged hit and run incident that left a 21-year-old with “life-
changing injuries”.

The male victim sustained spinal injuries after he was knocked down moments after getting out of a taxi in 
the early hours of Sunday morning.

The victim, who was alone at the time, was crossing Kirk Brae after being dropped off when he was struck by another vehicle, which did not stop, opposite the pathway to Clarinda Terrace. The collision happened between 1.50am and 2am on Sunday.Shortly afterwards, another taxi driver came upon the man lying on the road. The injured man was taken initially to the ERI before being transferred to the Western General where he is in a serious condition.

The 36-year-old has been bailed to appear in court.
