Man burned in flat blaze

A MAN is in hospital suffering from serious burns after a flat fire on New Year’s Day.

The 27-year-old had to be rushed to the ERI, after the blaze broke out in a flat at Murrayburn Place at around 6.30pm.

Firefighters treated the man with gel packs and oxygen at the scene before he was taken to hospital.

He was later transferred to St John’s for specialist treatment.

The blaze is understood to be smoking-related.
