Man bit ear off after pub knock back

AN ear was found lying on a pub floor after a customer bit it off another man when he was refused a drink by the bar staff.

Joiner Ryan Buchanan flew into a rage after he was told he was not being served and he turned his fury on Richard Heaney and ripped off his ear.

When officers arrived at the Royal Bar in Perth they found Mr Heaney bleeding from the wound - and discovered a large part of his ear several feet away.

Buchanan, 30, from Perth, was remanded in custody for reports yesterday after he admitted leaving Mr Heaney scarred for life.

He admitted assaulting Mr Heaney on 13 February by punching him on the head and body, and leaving him scarred and severely injured.

Fiscal depute Lucy Keane told Perth Sheriff Court that Buchanan turned his anger on Mr Heaney after he told him there was no need for his abusive behaviour towards staff.

Sheriff Michael Fletcher deferred sentence until 11 August for background reports.
