Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses after the victim was attacked and robbed over the weekend.

The incident occurred in Craigour Avenue at around 3am on Saturday.

The man, who is in his 20s, had been walking in Craigour Avenue, near its junction with Moredun Park Road, and heading north when an unknown male and female approached him from behind.

They then attacked him, causing injuries to his head and body.

The victim fell to the ground and the suspects then stole his mobile phone and wallet before making off on foot in an unknown direction.

The injured man made his way to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and was treated for facial injuries.

He has since been discharged.

Police are now pursuing various lines of inquiry in an effort to trace the suspects and want to hear from anyone who can help identify them.

The male is described as white, around 20 to 25 years old, between 5ft 1ins and 5ft 5ins tall, and a with slim build and short, dirty blonde hair.

The female suspect is described as white, around 5ft 1ins to 5ft 3ins tall, slim, and with shoulder length, dark hair. She was wearing blue jeans.

Detective Constable Gavin Watson, who is based at Gayfield police station, said: “Our inquiries are at an early stage however anyone who was in the Craigour area around 3am on Saturday, April 9, and who saw anything suspicious should contact police immediately.

“Similarly anyone who recognises the description of the suspects or who can assist in locating them should also come forward.”
