Man arrested over rape of woman, 19, in Glasgow’s west end

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the rape of a teenager near a busy nightlife spot in the west end of Glasgow.

The young woman, 19, was grabbed as she walked in Lilybank Gardens at about 2am on Saturday.

The attacker raped her and then ran off into nearby Ashton Lane which is lined with bars.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack and is being held by Strathclyde Police.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police said information from members of the public had been “invaluable” to their investigation.
