Man arrested over fire death

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was discovered after a house fire, police said last night.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Perth's Lewis Place in the early hours of yesterday.

The fire was quickly brought under control, but the body of a 50-year-old local man was found inside the property. Police are treating his death as suspicious.

Tayside Police confirmed a 26-year-old Perth man has been arrested in connection with the death. He was expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court today.

A report will be sent to the procurator-fiscal.
