Last week the front of the imposing granite building was daubed with the words “Ye have not yet done as ye ought” and the nearby Queen Street entrance to the Town House was also affected by graffiti.

The Aberdeen Division of Police Scotland said a 23 year-old man was due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court later today after being arrested in connection with eight vandalisms in the city.

Chief Inspector George MacDonald said: “We have had huge support while investigating this enquiry from the business community for which we are extremely grateful.

“The partnership working between the police and the community has a pivotal role to play while investigating crimes such as these.”
