Man arrested after woman 'stabbed up to 20 times'

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a mother of two who was allegedly stabbed in a flat.

The 28-year-old woman was found seriously injured after emergency services were called after reports of a disturbance in Firbank Road, Perth, at about 8:30pm on Thursday.

She is believed to have been stabbed. Her children, aged two and five, were thought to have been in the flat at the time.

The woman, originally from Poland, was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she died.

It is understood she had been stabbed up to 20 times by her attacker.

Tayside Police said a 38-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the death and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The woman was last night named by neighbours as Aleks-andra Korkus, from Mikolow, near Katowice.

She had a son and a daughter - two-year-old Alan and five-year-old Nadia.

Local residents told of their shock at the killing.

Bill McMillan, 61, who lives next door, said: "I saw her being trolleyed out by two paramedics. The sides of her head were absolutely covered in blood."
