Man arrested after claims of kittens hanged at shop

A MAN has been arrested after claims that five kittens were found hanged outside a shopping centre proved untrue.

Grampian Police launched an inquiry after the animals were said to have been discovered at the Westhill Shopping Centre near Aberdeen.

However, police said that "extensive investigation" revealed that no animals were injured.

A 47-year-old man was arrested in connection with wasting police time and a report was sent to the procurator fiscal.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: "Regarding the alleged incident on 18 October 2010 involving kittens allegedly being hung at Westhill Shopping Centre, Grampian Police can confirm that after extensive investigation it has been found that no animals have been injured.
