Man appears in court over £1m Rox jewellers heist

A MAN has appeared in court charged with taking part in an an alleged £1 million robbery from an exclusive Scots jeweller.

Anthony Boyd, 25, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today before Sheriff Alistair Noble on a charge of armed robbery.

Prosecution lawyers claim Mr Boyd took part in a raid on the Rox store in Edinburgh’s George Street in January 2013.

Mr Boyd, of Manchester, made no plea or declaration to the charge and was remanded in custody by Sheriff Noble.

Another two men have also been charged in connection with the alleged heist which took place on the evening of January 15, 2013.

Elliot Jorgensen,25, and Aldaire Warmington, 26, both of Greater Manchester, have appeared in court and have been ordered to stand trial on armed robbery allegations.

Mr Boyd is expected to reappear in court on the armed robbery charge sometime within the next seven days.
