Man accused of murdering wife in Glasgow shop found dead

A man accused of stabbing his wife to death in a Glasgow city-centre newsagent has been found dead in prison.

Fatou Saine Miss Saine, 33, was fatally wounded while working in McColl's shop in the city's St Enoch Square in June this year.

It's understood Sheikh Saine was founded hanged in his cell in Barlinnie Prison yesterday.

He was due to stand trial for the murder of his wife and was remanded in custody following an appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He was alleged to have punched and bitten Miss Saine and held his rucksack over her face and mouth before stabbing her.

The court heard that Saine, from Greenock, Inverclyde, was on bail from Greenock Sheriff Court at the time of the incident.

He was also charged with breaching a bail condition not to approach his wife.
