A 55-year-old man has been charged in connection with an alleged serious assault in Elgin.

Officers received a report in the early hours of 26 October, 2017, that a 44-year-old woman had sustained a serious head injury in the Woodside Terrace area.

She is still receiving treatment at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A man from the local area was detained and subsequently charged in connection with the incident.

He is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Friday.
