Man, 19, badly injured in machete attack

POLICE are hunting two thugs who carried out a machete attack on a man in the early hours of Friday morning.

The 19-year-old victim was walking along Altyre Street in Tollcross, East Glasgow, when he saw two men approaching armed with machetes. The man tried to run off but the attackers caught up with him and assaulted him.

He suffered a laceration to his left leg and had defensive injuries on his right arm and was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as serious but not life threatening.

The suspects are both white and aged between 18 and 20 and were wearing dark hooded tops with the hoods up.

Police are keen to speak to a woman who assisted the injured man. Detective Constable Graham Harries from Shettleston CID said: "I would really like to ask the lady who came to the man's aid to get in touch as she could have vital information regarding this violent crime."
