A GIANT inflatable rabbit is due to appear on Princes Street today to highlight National Rabbit Awareness Week.

The 15ft-tall white rabbit has been touring the UK to educate the public about the welfare of pet rabbits and is due to be in front of Register House today.

Television vet Matt Brash said: "There are some damaging myths out there about how to care for rabbits. Our role throughout rabbit awareness week is to educate UK animal lovers about how to ensure the emotional health and wellbeing of our total estimated 1.7 million domestic rabbits.

"The week is focusing on educating owners about their (rabbit's] diet, exercise, housing, health and companionship needs."
