Majority back gay marriages

Two-thirds of people in Scotland support the legalisation of same-sex marriage, a report shows.

Half of people who have a religious faith also back the move, according to the Living Together report by Stonewall Scotland.

The Scottish Government is likely to make a decision on the issue when members of the cabinet meet in Edinburgh on 10 July. Almost 80,000 people responded to the government’s consultation on same-sex marriage. It closed in December and responses are still being analysed.

A YouGov survey of almost 2,000 people was commissioned by Stonewall.
