Maisie gets one-on-one

Evening News competition winner Maisie Dalton was the envy of all her friends – and much of the world – as she became one of the first people to meet the iconic animals.

An excited Maisie, six, from Willowbrae, said she was so close to the pair as they emerged from their jet that she said she could “see Tian Tian’s teeth”.

The youngster beamed: “It was brilliant. I was taken to see the pandas so close up I could see Tian Tian’s teeth. It was very, very, cold but it was worth it.”

Maisie’s mother, Morag, 35, father Pete, 41, and eight-year-old sister Zara cheered from the sidelines as Maisie became one of the first to peek into the bear’s boxes.

Proud mum Morag added: “I thought it was absolutely amazing.”
